Five Canadian insurers are expanding their respective auto insurance premium relief programs to assist consumers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Here are the details:
Allstate Canada Group
Allstate Canada, and its subsidiaries Pembridge and Pafco, are launching a second wave of auto insurance rebates to assist their customers. Allstate Canada, Pembridge, and Pafco initially offered their customers a one-time payment amounting to about 25% of their monthly premium. Now, the three insurers will issue a second round of refunds for customers with active accounts as of July 6, 2020. This payment will also amount to 25% of a customer’s monthly bill. The company says eligible customers will receive cheques in August.
Intact Canada is enhancing its my Drive usage-based car insurance program as of June 11, 2020. Customers who enrol in the program have the opportunity to save up to 30% on their premiums based on their safe driving habits. Intact Canada customers also get an immediate 10% discount when they enrol in the program. The insurer is also working on reducing its private-passenger vehicle base rate as of July 7, 2020, for new customers, and on August 7, 2020, for existing customers who renew their policies. Intact customers should contact their brokers or the insurer directly for more information.
