The scenario: Your kid has bad driving habits, so you've pulled driving
privileges. Yet your policy requires that all drivers within the
household are insured on your policy. How do you overcome increases in
your insurance rate when you know junior won't be driving?So what Ontario Policy Change Form (OPCF) provides you with the ability to remove extra insurance from your Ontario auto policy coverage for this situation?The form: OPCF 28AWhat is an OPCF?
- OPCF stands for "Ontario Policy Change Form."
- OPCFs are special agreements that allow you to change, add or reduce the amount of insurance coverage for certain situations on your Ontario auto insurance policy.
Details of the OPCF 28A include:
- This form is also known as the "Excluded Driver Endorsement"
- The OPCF 28A allows the automobile owner (the policy holder) to exclude a driver from being insured on the described automobile.
- By signing the OPCF 28A, the insurance company waives the premium charge for the excluded driver on the described automobile.
- By signing the OPCF 28A, the policyholder agrees that if the excluded driver drives the described automobile:
1. There is no coverage under the policy for property damage and bodily injury.
2. There is no coverage under the policy for damage to the automobile.
3. There is no coverage under the policy for most accident benefits.
4. The excluded driver may be charged for driving without insurance.
5. You and the excluded driver and policy holder may be held personally liable for bodily injury or damages caused by the excluded driver.
6. The policy may be cancelled if the excluded driver is caught driving the described automobile.
7. In future the policyholder and excluded driver may have more difficulty finding car insurance and it will likely cost more.
