Did you know taking pictures with a hand-held device, while on the road, is illegal and could land you a $155 fine under the new distracted driving law?

Under Ontario's new distracted driving law, drivers caught taking pictures with any hand-held device will be issued a $155 ticket. Authorities have noted instances where drivers are seen "rubbernecking" (slowing down to see what happened in a car accident), and taking out their cell phones to capture photos as they drive. This distraction can cause further accidents and if you are caught in the driver's seat taking photos with your mobile device's camera, you may be charged, which can increase your insurance rate by a minimum of 10%. A picture is worth a thousand words, but while driving it is not worth the possible safety and insurance rate increase ramifications.
