Intact Insurance says since they originally announced their COVID-19 customer relief measures in March, they’ve helped more than 220,000 customers with payment flexibility and premium adjustment options to help offset the financial stresses that have come with the pandemic. These measures have so far resulted in more than $88 million in relief for the company’s existing customers.
The crisis, however, is still ongoing and the company is making adjustments along the way to better help its policyholders.
“We are working around the clock to support people and businesses facing financial challenges as a result of the pandemic,” says Charles Brindamour, the company’s CEO on their website. “That is why we moved quickly to provide flexible relief measures, including waiving of missed payment fees, payment deferrals and premium adjustments.”
On the latter point, Intact policyholders benefit from a 15%, on average, decrease on their monthly premiums for the months of April, May, and June. Customers are encouraged to contact their broker to get the ball rolling or apply for the auto insurance discount by completing Intact’s online form. And, for policyholders who have parked their car for the duration of the pandemic and safely stored it away, a chat with their broker could result in a premium reduction of 75% per month, on average.
Additionally, the following measures will be in place until June 30, 2020:
- Waiving of missed payment fees
- Flexible payment options including deferrals
- Flexibility for those who are using their cars and homes during the crisis for different purposes like making deliveries and running a business from home
