Motorcycle Licensing

It is important to make sure that you are properly licensed before you begin operating and driving any type of motor vehicle, including a motorcycle. There is a process you must go through before you are able to obtain your license. Your license is a card that shows you have passed everything necessary to drive in your territory and province. Without this card, you can face legal troubles and you may not be able to become licensed for a long time.

About Driver’s Licenses

Your driver’s license will be issued by the territory or province that you live in. There are specific laws and regulations regarding your license and each of these sets of rules will change from province to province. In Canada, the process of getting a license is known as graduating. You cannot just obtain a driver’s license without going through the steps necessary to get it first.

The “L” License

If you are a new driver, you will first start out with you “L” license. This is also known as the learner’s license. You can obtain this type of license once you have hit the age of 16. There are requirements that must be met to get this license and these requirements include passing a vision test, having a parent sign the consent form, and also passing the knowledge test. Once all of these requirements have been met, you are able to obtain your “L” license.

The knowledge test will test your knowledge of the rules of the road. To pass this test, you will need to get 40 questions out of 50 questions correct. The test is in a multiple choice format and can be taken at your local driver’s licensing facility.

Before you can drive by yourself and graduate to the next license, you must have your “L” license for 12 months.

The “N” License

Your “N” license is also known as your Novice license. You can only receive this license once you have graduated from the “L” license. You can obtain your “N” license by meeting the requirements. The requirements include 1 year of driving with a supervisor and also passing the road test.

The road test is important and you do not need to rush into taking it. Your “L” license is valid for 2 years and can even be renewed after that if you need more time. If you are wondering when you can take your first road test, you can view the date printed on your “L” license. This is the very first day you are able to take the test.

When you are ready to take the test, you will need to book your test. On testing day, bring all of the required paperwork and get ready to take the test. If you pass, you will be able to graduate to the next license.

The Full License

Once you have passed through your “L” and “N” license, you are able to obtain your full license. You will no longer have to fulfill any obligations or meet any requirements. To apply for a full license, you must have your “N” license for at least 24 months. You must also be a safe driver and have had no prohibitions throughout that time. In addition, you must also pass another road test before you are granted your full license.

The date you can take the test is also printed on your license for your records. When you are ready to take the test, you will need to book it and show up with the required materials. On the day of your test, show up and take the test. Once you pass, you will be granted your full license.

Driving is an important part of life and to gain access to full driving privileges, you must prove yourself. It is important to make sure that you are studying for these tests and preparing for them so that you are able to pass. You should never take any of the tests lightly and make sure that you are always paying attention to the road and other cars around you. Once you have passed through your “L” and “N” licenses, you will be able to earn your full license.
