questions

Q) Will a red light camera ticket affect my car insurance rate?

A) No. Insurance companies will not hold this ticket against you when determining your rate. The ticket is treated as a parking infraction given it cannot be linked to a driver's license and therefore can only be sent to the registered license plate holder of the vehicle.

The set fine for running a red light detected by a camera system is $190 in Ontario. On the other hand, if you are pulled over by a police officer for failing to stop at a red light and a ticket is issued, this would be considered a minor conviction for insurance purposes and could affect your insurance rate.
