Question mark on a blue background

Q) I got a ticket for driving through a stop sign, will my insurance rates increase?

A) Maybe, if this is your very first ticket and you have an otherwise clean driving record your insurance rates may or may not increase. It depends on the insurance company that you are with. Each insurance company has their own rules. One insurance company may not increase your rate as a result of one ticket while another might. Some insurance companies offer a 'conviction free discount' which you will lose. This will result in an increase in your insurance rate.

It is best to consult with your insurance professional to see how this ticket may affect your record. It may even be a good time to shop for a new insurance company if your current company will increase your rate.
