Question mark on a blue background

Q) I was involved in a minor car accident, and took down the other

driver’s name and telephone number. Only to find out from my insurance

company that the name and number I received was fake information, and

now I’m on the hook for paying my own damages even though I wasn’t at

fault. Do I have any other options?

A) Unfortunately, without any other information on the other driver, you may have to pay for your own damages. If you’re claiming this through your insurance you may have to pay your deductible. In any type of accident involving another vehicle, it is very important to record and compile as much information as you can including the other driver’s name, telephone number, vehicle license plate number, and the other driver’s insurance details. In the case that you are not at fault you do not want to be held for your accountable for damages.
